On Tuesday, February 4, the Victory Museum will host an official ceremony to hand over archival documents from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Federation Armed Forces on the preparation and holding of the Yalta Conference. The materials were declassified for the 80th anniversary of the negotiations between the leaders of the anti-Hitler coalition countries and will be presented to a wider audience for the first time.

The documents will be presented to the museum as a gift by Lieutenant General Vyacheslav Kondrashov, Doctor of Historical Sciences. The ceremony will also be attended by Deputy Director General of the Victory Museum, Vice-Admiral Fyodor Smuglin, Vladimir Azarov (son of Vice-Admiral Ilya Azarov), historian of the special services Andrey Vedyayev, member of the executive committee of the World Peace Council Aleksandr Mudragey, Chairman of the Council of Veterans of Rossotrudnichestvo Igor Puzakov, and representatives of the RF Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other honored guests.

The transfer of documents will take place as part of the opening ceremony of the exhibition “Yalta 1945: Foundation of a New World Order.” Unique declassified materials will become exhibits of the exhibition, and all visitors to the museum will be able to see them. The exhibition was created by the Victory Museum with the participation of the State Historical Museum, with the involvement of materials from leading archives across Russia. A separate section of the exhibition tells about the role of the Black Sea Fleet units in preparing and ensuring the safety of flights for the participants of the Crimean Conference, about W. Churchill’s visit to the city of naval glory – Sevastopol, and about the extensive collegial meetings of the allied sailors.
