TROSTNIK to Comrade PAVLOV

            Due to a possible assault landing in Cuba by the Americans currently conducting maneuvers in the Caribbean Sea, take immediate steps to increase combat readiness and repel the enemy through the combined forces of the Cuban Army and all the forces of the Soviet troops, with the exception of the STATsENKO assets and all BELOBORODOV cargo.

Translator Note: TROSTNIK was the pseudonym used by Minister of Defense Malinovskiy, and PAVLOV was that used by Commander of the Group of Soviet Forces in Cuba Pliyev.

STATsENKO assets refers to the missile forces headed by General Major Igor Statsenko, Commander of the 51st Missile Division.

BELOBORODOV cargo refers to the nuclear warheads brought to Cuba, named for Lieutenant General Nikolay Beloborodov, who headed the Soviet nuclear arsenal in Cuba during Operation Anadyr.
